Don’t Go Away without Travel Insurance

Insurance is now legal in so many aspects of life. We clearly have no choice about car insurance, it is a legal requirement in the UK and if caught without it by cops we face potential fines, driving bans and court appearnces. Home insurance is not a legal requirement but to overlook it would be foolish when we consider the amount of gadgets and gizmos now owned by the average family, although home burglaries are on the decline, suffering a loot could leave you thousands of pounds out of pocket in the absence of insurance. One type of insurance are still fairly lackadaisical about however is travel insurance, not covering yourself abroad can prove highly costly, and not just to your pocket.

Going to a foreign destination is clearly about having fun, relaxing and escaping the grind of everyday life. Travel Insurance is most likely the last thing on your mind, and with good reason. Neglect this vital safety net however and your holiday could prove more stressful than any tough day at work or mischievous child you have ever dealt with. An accident or emergency on holiday is much harder to deal with than one at home, you are aware of the location of the hospital and are able to get friends and relatives rallying around to your aid. A mishap abroad can be confusing and frightening, particularly with a language barrier.

These accidents can easily occur, a simple slip by the pool can have disastrous consequences. An active holiday will prove even more accident prone however, if you happen to be going to the Alps or Calgary, ensure you take you specialized Winter Sports and Ski Insurance to protect yourself in the quite likely case of an accident, especially if you are a beginner. Travel insurance is very cheap and can elevate the stress associated with injuries incurred abroad, it is certainly worth it, unless you want to be sent home to hospital and have to pay for Gatwick Airport Hotels before the rest of your group return.

What other types of insurance do you have besides homeowners, auto, health, and life?

I just bought a house and I’m about to get married. I’m thinking I should have some kind of insurance that could pay the mortgage should I ever become unable to work since I am the main breadwinner and there’s no way my soon to be husband could pay all the bills himself. He could probably hack it without the mortgage payment, that would be the killer. Anyone in the same boat? What kind of insurance is the best for this, disability or mortgage insurance?
